About five weeks ago we set up a remix competition, where anyone could remix our track Believe Me.
The reason we did this is that later this year we’ll be releasing an augmented version of our Natural History album, Natural History: Revision, which will include a load of new remixes, and we wanted to feature something from a relatively unknown artist.
So here we are 265 remix entries later with a decision.
We’d like to give a massive thanks to everyone who entered. The effort and imagination that went into many of the remixes has amazed us and we’ve got a whole list of names that we’re going to be keeping a very close eye on.
We narrowed the 265 down to our 16 favourites, and then it became impossible to choose just one. After a massive argument about it we decided that each of us should pick one remix to feature on the album, so we’ve ended up with the three winning interpretations you can hear clips of below. All three will appear on the album.
THE WINNERS
1) Nomad
2) 5-Foot Nothing & Anarchy Rise
3) Hot Mess
Blu Mar Ten Remix Competition Winners by Blu Mar Ten
We also loved the entries from this lot below, and if were we able to release them all then we would have done. In fact we did flirt with the idea of doing a whole album featuring all 16 but we realised that wasn’t really possible.
When we release Natural History: Revision we’ll make all the runner-up remixes available for free download and we’ll give a full review of why we loved each one together with links so you can find out more about them all.
THE RUNNERS-UP
Airwalker
ConRank
David Bartholomeusz
Double A
INtrepid
Inward Phase
King Moot
Logarithmia
Miguel K
Paradigm X
Savvas
Silence Groove
Thinnen
Once again, congratulations to the winners and a massive thanks to everyone who entered. Getting a final track together for a deadline is never easy and we admire anyone who can organise themselves to deliver.
If you entered but you’re not listed above then we’re happy for you to make your remix public and available for free download if that’s what you’d like to do. If you want to take the samples and use them for your own tunes then feel free. You can download them below:
If you’d like to be notified when Natural History: Revision is available together with the runner-up remixes then subscribe to our newsletter in the box below if you haven’t already done so:
Thanks folks. We hope you enjoyed this as much as we did.
